The NCEPForecast service provides forecasts of several meteorological parameters at surface:

  • wind,
  • air pressure,
  • temperature,
  • relative humidity,
  • precipitation, irradiances for 3 days every 3-hours.

More information at NCEP (http://www.nco.ncep.noaa.gov)

NCEPForecast is provided by the National Centers for Environmental Prediction, NOAA (USA).

Geographical coordinates (latitude, longitude) should be entered
  • by clicking on the map
  • or entering the name of a city
  • or typing in the coordinates either in decimal degrees (e.g., 10.87) or sexagesimal degrees (e.g., 10° 52' 12"). Under ISO standard, a positive latitude means North, a positive longitude means East.

The results are presented in a tabular format. Each line corresponds to a forecast every 3 h.

First line is analysis, not forecast. Last three columns are invalid.

  • First column is the date YYYYMMMDDHH (every 3 h, in UT)
  • Second column is wind speed at 10 m W->E (m/s)
  • Third column is wind speed at 10 m S->N (m/s)
  • Fourth column is wind speed at 10 m (m/s)
  • Fifth column is wind direction at 10 m (degree)
  • Sixth column is the air pressure at 2 m height (hPa)
  • Seventh column is the air temperature at 2 m height (deg C)
  • Eigth column is the relative humidity at surface (%)
  • Ninth column is the cloud cover (%)
  • Tenth column is the surface total precipitation cumulated during 3 h (kg/m2)
  • Eleventh column is the cloud cover (%)
  • Twelth column is the downward shortwave irradiance (W/m2)
  • Thirteenth column is the downward longwave irradiance (W/m2)
