EMP Climate is a service providing climatological data aggregated over the period 1990-2004.

  • Parameters: surface solar irradiance, air temperature (daily minimum, maximum and mean) and relative humidity (daily minimum, maximum and mean)
  • Temporal coverage: mean values for 1990-2004
  • Temporal resolution: monthly values
  • Spatial coverage: world
  • Spatial resolution: 5 arcmin

Geographical coordinates (latitude, longitude) should be entered

  • by clicking on the map
  • or entering the name of a city
  • or typing in the coordinates either in decimal degrees (e.g., 10.87) or sexagesimal degrees (e.g., 10° 52' 12"). Under ISO standard, a positive latitude means North, a positive longitude means East.

The results are presented in a tabular format.
Each line corresponds to a month for the period 1994-2000.

  • First column is the date YYYY-MM-DD. Year and day are arbitrarily set to respectively 2000 and 01.
  • Second column is the time set to 00:00:00
  • Third column is the monthly mean of surface solar irradiance (W/m2)
  • Fourth column is the monthly mean of daily minimum of air temperature
  • Fifth column is the monthly mean of daily maximum of air temperature (°C)
  • Sixth column is the monthly mean of air temperature (°C)
  • Seventh column is the monthly mean of daily minimum of relative humidity (%)
  • Eigth column is the monthly mean of daily maximum of relative humidity (%)
  • Ninth column is the monthly mean of relative humidity (%)
